What We Do

Promote the recognition and establishment of a healthy Swedish Lapphund population in the United States.

Preserve and promote genetic diversity in the breed (defined as maintaining a Coefficient of Inbreeding, or COI, of ≤ 2.25% between breeding pairs unless other factors outweigh this goal in individual pairings.
Build a welcoming community to provide information to those interested in the breed.
Foster community outreach and the education of event judges to maintain the Swedish Lapphund for future generations.
Organize and participate in relevant events, including training activities, AKC shows, and canine recreation.
Foster a partnership with the Svenska rasklubben for svensk lapphund (SRSL) in Sweden by adopting the SRSL Breed Specific Breeding Strategy for the Swedish Lapphund to promote alignment with international breeding efforts.
Honor the heritage of the Swedish Lapphund dog as an ancient reindeer herding breed, and its history with the Sami people.
